Tourism in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is filled with fascinating cultural discoveries, history, and breathtaking natural beauty. Tourists can travel through living history or they can experience the silence of the distant past – at the sites of ancient settlements, temples, and tombs, which still serve as places for religious pilgrimage, as they have for a thousand years.

Interest in Uzbekistan as a tourist destination has increased markedly in recent years. Accordingly, the range of travel facilities and the services of local tour operators is being expanded every year in order to draw more travelers to explore this wonderful place. A great number of new hotels, guest houses, restaurants, and cafes that meet international standards have been opened. Modern means of transportation, from cars to tour buses, are available to transport increasing numbers of tourists.

Visitors can enjoy the rich history, unique culture, natural beauty, and heart-stopping adventure that Uzbekistan has to offer.

History

Cities like Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand, Shakhrizabs, Samarkand, and Termez were ancient centers of science and art. Great architects created palaces, mosques, mausoleums, and world famous monuments of ancient architecture memorializing Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan. Many of those masterpieces have not survived to the present; however, from those which have been preserved, it is possible to restore the pages of the distant past. The Great Silk Road also passed through these cities.

Culture

In addition to the famous traditions of Uzbek hospitality, which are so deeply rooted within its people, the unique local customs and tasty national cuisine of Uzbekistan make it a very attractive tourism destination for travelers from all over the world.

Deserts

Once a part of the Great Silk Road connecting ancient China and Europe, Uzbek deserts are accessible to modern travelers. Tourism infrastructure allows for easy travel in the desert and steppe areas of this region, where you can ride camels, sleep in yurts, and spend an evening next to the fire listening to a folklore performance.

Mountains

In the summer, visitors can canoe, hike, horseback ride, mountain-bike, raft, or trek some of the most beautiful landscapes in Central Asia, where forests intermingle with alpine meadows, which give way to snow capped summits, all while staying in newly built mountain resorts. Winter in the mountains is likewise full of opportunities for heli-boarding, heli-skiing, paragliding, and snowboarding. Professional instructors provide high quality services for the achievement of your adventure dreams.
